I'm wondering how I missed this.

Oh Sicon, what happened?

We don't know...
She died at the boarding place while we were away on a trip for spring break.

The saddest thing is, she died alone, before we could even get back.
:iconmiran-chan:
That's horrible! [snuggles] The boarding place didn't have any idea at all?

Oh gosh. It's a long ass story.

See, the day we left, which was thursday, Sasha was starting to have breathing problems. She wasn't eating, or drinking either, and they couldn't get her to stand up. Now the lady called my mom two days later about the problem. She had consulted the vet on friday and called my mom saturday. The vet didn't even talk to the lady, and instead had his tech tell her not to worry about my dog. So Sasha didn't get to go to the vet at all to see what was up. So, after the lady called my mom (she had to leave a message because my mom's phone was turned off), that sunday she left another message saying she was dead.

I cried for three days straight, and I still look outside expecting to see Sasha prancing around.

Worst news of my life, I tell you what.
:iconmiran-chan:
Oh sweetie, that's just. . . My lord.

I know you've probably heard it before, but I think that vet was more than a tad irresponsible- as soon as an animal starts showing even the slightest sign of those symptoms, it's a flag that something's not right. They shouldn't have brushed her off like that; sure, it might not have seemed like the most urgent case, but that's not an excuse.

Well, the first time Sasha had gone to the vet, she had acted kind of like the way she did when she was at the boarding place, and they really couldn't do much for her.
So they automatically assumed that this was the same thing, and so they would not see her this time.

It's just beyond frustrating.
:iconmiran-chan:
Ah, I see; at least it wasn't total neglect then, but I agree, that's pretty frustrating and upsetting.
We had something like that with one of my dogs, but it's not life-threatening.

Yeah it really is.

But now my mom wants another malamute, but my dad and I aren't really sure about it.
:iconmiran-chan:
If you're not sure about getting another dog (malamute or otherwise) right now,or if it doesn't feel like the right thing to do yet, then I'd personally wait. From my experience, sometimes getting a new animal can help the healing process, but it can also hinder it ^^; It all depends on what you collectively think/feel about it.
